The experienced and accredited coaching staff for LGIHA dedicate many hours at the rink and in preparation for girls hockey. Our dedicated Coach Development team offer years of experience to coaches new and old, ensuring LGIHA provides the best instruction and leadership for the girls.

Coaching Certifications
In addition to the required courses for all team officials, coaches must also achieve BC Hockey Certification for the following:

Types of Coaches
Head Coach
The head coach is responsible for the safe growth and performance of our hockey players.
Assistant Coach
One or more assistant coaches support the instruction and development of players.
Player Coach
An older LGIHA player from the U18 divison, who works with a team of younger players, lending their expertise about hockey and providing a visual mentor for the kids to follow. Player coaches work with the coaching staff of their assigned teams on-ice during weekly practices.
