COVID-19 INFORMATION

As we enter a new phase in our fight against Covid-19 we will be starting a new implementation of the Provincial Covid-19 proof of vaccination requirements starting Monday, September 13th, 2021.  The province has outlined new requirements in regards to entering certain non essential facilities and requiring patrons to present proof of at least one (1) Covid-19 approved vaccine.  As of October 24th, 2021 proof of two (2) Covid-19 approved vaccines will need to be provided upon entry of certain establishments.

PROOF OF VACCINATION

Beginning Monday, September 13th, everyone born in 2009 or earlier (except 12-18 year old's participating in a recreational activity) will be required to present proof of vaccination to enter certain establishments. Valid government ID for people 12 and older will also be required.  By October 24th, 2021 the Provincial Government will require those individuals entering certain establishments to be fully vaccinated, currently there are no exemptions as per the Provincial Health Order.

This new PHO Mandate will be applied to all facilities LGIHA uses (Sportsplex, George Preston, Twin Rinks (Canlan) & NHTC).  This will also apply to facilities that teams will travel to however some may have tighter restrictions.  Non player patrons entering a facility will require to have on hand proof of vaccination while visiting these arenas including;

  • Wallet-sized immunization record card (given at time of vaccination).
  • Printed or on smart phone immunization record from Health Gateway.
  • Immunization record from your pharmacy.
  • Valid government identification for people 12 years old and older.

The Province's official vaccine card is now available digitally through the Health Gateway website.  A paper copy may also be obtained by contacting the BC Services Centre Support Line at 1-833-838-2323 or visiting a BC Service Centre.

SPORTSPLEX AND GEORGE PRESTON ARENAS

At this time, those participating in youth sport (21 years of age and younger) for practice or training, including adult coaches, volunteers and spectators are exempt from providing proof of vaccination. However, for games where there are 50 or more people in attendance, proof of vaccination will be required.

TWIN RINKS

Zone control attendants will be asking patrons over 19 years of age to provide proof of 1st dose as of September 13th and second dose as of October 24th. This also applies to anyone over 12 that wants to go use the restaurant and to the volunteers and coaching staff who enter the building.

NHTC

Beginning on September 13th, ages 12 and up must present their BC Vaccine Card upon entry to NHTC. If you are 19 and older you must also present one piece of government-issued ID. Proof of Vaccination is NOT REQUIRED if you are 19 years old or younger and are participating in an on-ice activity. Volunteers and coaching staff must provide proof of vaccination.

FACE MASKS

Face masks will be required at all facilities. Mask are not required while engaged in physical activity on the ice.

We recognize that these new mandates may be stressful for some and we ask that everyone remain respectful as we all navigate through these challenging times ahead.
